You can take
the person out of the nation, but you can't take the nation out of
the person. For more than six years Agnes Mensah with the blessing
and support of her husband Peter has been returning to their home
country of Ghana, Africa to advance the cause of the Gospel of the
Kingdom of God. The vision is evangelism. The vehicle is Vacation
Bible School. The evangelists are children.
That is how things started anyway.
The focus is still VBS, but the scope has changed. The work has
taken on a life of its own by way of the Holy Spirit. God raised up
from the children over 100 teaches who hold VBS meetings in twelve
to thirteen villages. The few hundren children in the beginning six
years ago, is now pushing past 3,500 to 4000 and growing each year.
Out of the ranks of 100 teachers, God has raised up Pastors Teachers
and others who are stepping into positions of responsibility that
will change the Nation. The orginal vision to simply reach children
has outstripped its boundaries as God continues to expand the
program into other parts of the county. An aspect of the vision is
set out in 2 Timothy 2:2,
"And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the
same commit thou to faithful me, who shall be able to teach others
also."
SPMI stands
alongside Peter and Agnes to partner with God concerning His will
for their life. Their projects, their vision, and practical steps
need to be staffed and funded on a yearly basis by those who are
willing to stand with them and speak for them to friends. Each
village takes approximately $350 U.S. to supply the materials and
crafts, transportation for teachers and food for the children on the
last day of the VBS.
Elsewhere on
this site you will have the chance to hear of Ebo Hackman. Ebo has
served as a teacher with the VBS for many years, but he also does
evangelistic outreaches to other areas of the country.
