What does Shammah mean?
|
Alone the Hebrew word means desolation. Ps. 46:8 -
9 says, "Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolation He has
made in the earth. He makes wars to cease unto the end of the earth:
He breaks the bow, and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot
in the fire." |
In other words, GOD
DESTROYS DESTRUCTION! |
It is one of the
compound names of the Lord. |
Ezekiel 48:35b says, "...
and the name of the city from that day shall be,
The Lord Is There. |
In Hebrew, this name is
JEHOVAH SHAMMAH! |
Also very important to us is
the fact that Shammah is the name of one of David's mighty men of
valor. Shammah stood in the bean field
and defended the harvest from the enemy. (2 Samuel 23:11). |

THERE IS A HARVEST TO
DEFEND! |

WILLIAM'S
CALL |
As a very young man the divisions
among God’s people hurt me greatly. Since I had no strong
spiritual counsel, the fact that the Lord seemed to want me to
do something about it was too much to handle. So for a number
of years I rebelled and ran from God. Then one day as I was
driving down the freeway in Corpus Christi I heard the Spirit of
the Lord demand of me, “William, How Long?” I nearly ran off
the road.
From that day to this I have
been working to bring the Body of Christ to the understanding
that we do not have to get united. We are already ONE in
Christ. But as Paul said we must work at keeping that unity of
the Spirit in the bond of Peace. Ephesians 4:3
